A Letter From Our Founder
As we begin 2024
I look back. It’s been quite a challenging year, both in Congo and at our 2 Ishara Houses. In May this year a massive mudslide virtually covered 2 small nearby villages and 4,000 people perished. Many children were left orphaned and because of this tragedy we took in some of the neediest of these children.
We now have a total of 62 children and to be honest, we are struggling a bit to take care of them all.
Violence in eastern Congo has also worsened in the past few months.
Hundreds of desperate refugees fleeing this have landed on the outskirts of Minova where our main Ishara House is. Many of them knock on our door asking for assistance. And now a huge cholera outbreak has spread to our children with 4 of them extremely sick in the hospital last week.
Luckily they have recovered and are home now.
With the upcoming Congolese Presidential elections looming, we stay focused and hopeful more than ever that peace and prosperity will come to Congo.
Our efforts to help are not in vain, especially when we see joy on the faces of our children :)Your donations truly make an enormous difference in their lives.
In gratitude, Clare Campbell
Here I share with you all a beautiful video of our children celebrating the New Year, adorable and resplendent in their new outfits and VERY enthusiastically singing a song of gratitude before enjoying a special feast.
Incredible thanks to Herman Chirihambali and his dear wife (in front in the video) Marie Claire Buhoro who facilitated this and so much more on a daily ongoing basis. Miracle workers, truly.
Spread our message please.
